This 5-day journey begins in the lush green valleys of Manali and transitions into the stark, dramatic landscapes of Spiti. Along the way, you’ll navigate river crossings, walk through alpine meadows, pass glaciers, and conquer a high-altitude pass at 14,000 feet.

The trail then becomes more rugged as you climb towards Hampta Pass, offering a spectacular 14,000-foot vantage point over the surrounding Himalayas.
From the remote landscapes of Hampta, begin your descent to Chhatru — a key highlight of the trek. Here, you’ll be treated to sweeping views of the Spiti Valley, Rohtang Pass, and Hampta Pass. Chhatru serves as a meeting point of routes leading into these iconic regions.

Is Hampta Pass Trek Difficult?
Though the Hampta Pass Trek in Himachal is rated as moderate, it presents its own set of challenges:
Altitude Sickness: Proper acclimatization in Manali is essential before starting the trek. Spending a day there helps your body adjust to the altitude, reducing the risk of symptoms like headaches, dizziness, and nausea. Acclimatizing also builds confidence for high-altitude trekking.
Unpredictable Weather: The weather along the trail can shift suddenly, especially during the monsoon season. Heavy rains, strong winds, and fluctuating temperatures are common. Wearing waterproof gear and dressing in layers is strongly recommended.
Physical Endurance: While not extremely difficult, the trek involves steep ascents, uneven terrain, and high-altitude hiking.
